The Cantare Chorale was formed under the direction of the late Donald Stiemke by a group of South Milwaukee High School choir alumni who wanted to continue singing in a public setting.

From a primarily south side membership, Cantare Chorale today has 30 to 40 members from all parts of Greater Milwaukee with a repertoire of music, both sacred and secular.

The group presents annual December and May concerts are with additional performances scheduled as opportunities arise.

Local venues have included the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center, the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, the Humphrey Scottish Rite Cathedral, Martin Luther Lutheran Church, St. Steven's Catholic Church in Oak Creek and Layton Avenue Baptist Church in Greenfield.
